4 November | Westminster Abbey

I took undercover illegal photos at Westminster Abbey. I am so stealthy.

strange tomb decorations

We saw Poet’s Corner, where all the hot shots are buried. One of the students, an English major, said, “I feel like I am standing on a syllabus.”

Was again amazed at how English churches feel an awful lot like large shrines to Britain’s imperial past. All the big war heroes get the good spots for burial. A plaque on the wall reads:

1858-1947: Here are commemorated the civil services of the Crown in India. Let them not be forgotten, for they served India well. What doth the Lord require of thee but to do justly and to love mercy.

Yikes.
